Author Topic: Bought my own first instrument  (Read 1420 times)

Liking it a lot so far.

Self teaching, it's taking me a bit but I'm getting the hang of it. I don't quite sound like death any more.

My first instrument was a Viola, then I moved onto a Saxophone.

I'd rather have a cello personally

They taught us how to use those in 5th grade, we were god awful, we even made our own ears bleed.

should have got a guitar to get the babes

My 5th grade school had learned, that's what they do now instead of violin.

Eh.

Buying a violin because of a sudden urge to buy the violin. Bit risky but I like your attitude towards it. I used to like the idea of playing instruments, tried the violin and the piano but got bored.

9 years later I got passionate about learning certain songs on the piano, and I taught myself. This time I felt strongly about the instrument and the music, rather than just the idea of playing it. Haven't looked back. c:

People who just like the thought or the look of playing an instrument... they are the ones who fail.

in fifth grade I didn't play any instruments
started playing a saxophone in sixth though

Piano really sounds cool, I always liked playing it because I could always make some kind of good beat. Too bad it's not always as exciting for other people not playing it.

I rented a student Stentor 4/4 outfit when I was 13. Started playing on my own and I loved it. Only had it for a week though, "take lessons or buy one yourself" said my father. So, I did. Five years later.

I sort of lied when I said my "first" instrument.

It's an Ibanez Soundgear that my father bought for me for my birthday/jazz band in 2008, and I like playing it but it's still not my thing. My dad plays it mostly.

All of the instruments I had before this one (Wooden Alto Recorder, Bass guitar, etc) were purchased as gifts. This is my first instrument I bought myself.

Mm. Well the reason I like the piano, despite how amazing and beautiful it is as an instrument and a piece of furniture, is that its one of those instruments that can play complex songs of all sorts of styles without the need to be backed up by another instrument.

There are endless songs designed for the piano and the piano only, whether its a fast paced rag from the early 1900's which are funny and interesting to learn, or something touchingly deep and solemn.

Its good if you are a computer fanatic as well because you'll find memorizing songs is a lot like touch typing haha.

holy stuff i remember that, we used those from 3rd to 5th grade, god it was loving annoying after the first year.
