Aw what a shame, I was just there. Im pretty sure there are a few Blocklanders that live in LA.
Anyway, Disneyland is pretty cool and Magic Mountain is awesome its about an hour or two away from Los Angeles, its hot as forget but try to go on a cool day its totally worth it (If you even like roller coasters)
LA has pretty much anything you could want, so if you live in a small town you should take advantage of that fact.
