need virus helps

k so just a few minutes ago, i was playing a game on steam, like normal. out of nowhere it just loving closes. now being as paranoid as i am about having viruses, i disable my internet, and then i decide to go check out my processes and click 'show processes from all users'. a bunch of svchost.exe's are there, like normal, but there's one that sticks out. it says 'svchost.exe *32". i checked the size and it's in c:\windows\SysWOW64 and only 20.5 kb. the others are in system32 and are 26.5 kb. is it a virus? they were both apparently created on july 13th in 2009 but the one with *32 was created earlier. i'm so confused because norton and malwarebytes aren't picking up anything. wat do?

Nothing. If you ran a scan with top of the line antivirus, there's not a virus, probably.

svchost.exe is a deadly virus. It isn't a problem until activated, but when it is it's pretty much irreversible. It can cause permanent hardware damage. It's a virus that damages both the mobo's small internal memory and BIOS system, as well as the HDD and all drivers.

Assuming it's already been activated now that you see it running, your best bet is to disconnect your HDD and replace it. Chances are it hasn't had chances to ruin your mobo.

Now calm down and try to inspect the computer for any "suspicious stuff" there could be lots of reasons for steam closing , not just viruses.

It's a default Windows program you tardis. Just google "svchost.exe" and you'll find 200 explanations.

Switch from Norton to McAfee if you can. Any virus I got was destroyed before I even clicked it/went toward it. It even has sites that are virus infested or mildly bad prevention, along with top notch scans, trojan removes, and many more features.

Wait a second... Isn't system32 the base of your computer and if deleted your whole computer dies?

You should try UVK or ultravirus killer its this all in one antivirus you can use to download malwarbytes and various other programs plus you can immunize your system and it comes with a process manager and a couple other things.

mcafee is a pile of stuff. it came default with a computer i had and the only thing it did was let malware auto download via popups and block safe sites like runescape.com and youtube. i switched to norton on that computer and i haven't had any issues since.

That was a while back, yes? McAfee has upgraded quite a bit lately and has been very excellent for me.

Avast is like a better mcafees

I don't think so in my opinion, even though it is free.
