Author Topic: Steam "game" download restart!?!  (Read 10546 times)

Yea, some of you may think this goes in the help and support section, but this has NOTHING to do with blockland. This is the only forum I could actually post this problem on.  :panda:

The problem is with my SFM (Source filmmaker). I let it download, and left home to do some stuff. When I came back, steam wasn't responding and the DL was stuck at %29 (this download is 3 HOURS LONG!) So I restarted it, and then, the percentage said %0. IM SO MAD, BECAUSE %29 IS SO FAR IN THE DOWNLOAD AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE WHEN I GOT HOME!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Things I've tried (I'll update this list when I try something else):
- Steam restart
- Pausing and un-pausing the download
- Computer Restart
- Waiting for the goddamn thing to finish (currently in progress)

Whoever helps me gets these:  :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie:

Plus, yes I understand I'm being somewhat childish about this, please don't comment on that.

Restart the computer.
Now give me the virtual cookies.

Cookies when proven a fix. Hold on.

..you don't need to restart the computer.
just right click sfm and click resume download or something.
it's not hard.

Oh man the forget up, I was at 68% when downloading portal 2, took 3 days to get there, and it went down to 0%, I just said meh and got on with my life. Simple.

But my sfm download also went from 1% to 0% just there, steam might be glitching or something.

Dude. the download DID resume... It was just restarted. Did you even read the things i tried?

Didn't work :/

Welcome to the forums you can start by not acting childish over a simple download glitch.  Steam servers are most likely glitched per usual.  This is really nothing new.  Steam always manages to forget up downloads 24/7

Orly? Then why exactly is this the only game out of 27 I've gotten (including SFM) that has done this? It said it would, in total, take 3 HOURS. I'm guessing you didn't read my post.

I'm starting to think I should lock this... Because of guys like you two...

Your computer or internet is probably garbage.

Your computer or internet is probably garbage.
No & no. Internet is great, can load up, like, %99 pages in less than a second. Computer is a CUSTOM using lots of very good parts. So I'm going to have to disagree.

webpages are very small files
and by 'custom' i assume you mean you did some kind of web-based builder on a manufacturer's website or something in which case for some reason that makes me feel disinclined to believe that you know 'good parts'

as said before, steam can be stupid sometimes.

source filmmaker was a pretty big release i think, odds are a lot of people were downloading it and steam's servers just ate poopy.

if the problem persists, try changing your steam server.

also you are being extremely childish, stop it.
people tend to not want to help people that are annoying to try and communicate with.

You are one of the biggest starfishs ever.  I tried to be kind to you since you're new but that's just an starfish move right there.  If you wanted help maybe you could respect what people are telling you to move on and stop acting pathetic.  You might as well lock this before you get flamed for acting stupid towards people helping you.
