How do your police do their job? Because I heard they don't carry guns so how would they deal with violent situations?

the police here carry handguns all the time and i think some carry bigger guns. Yesterday areas of the town were blocked off, probably because of the protestant parades happening today (I think) and they all had bigger guns. Not sure if they were assault rifles or shotguns, didnt get a good look.

Police in the UK use pepper spray, various phyisical methods such as restraining.

Batons are really only used in riots.
