Your ISP slows your internet down because it's jealous of the connection you have to it?

Steam limits download speed for things that are being downloaded a lot so they don't get overused and explode.

My normal download speed is 1.5mb/s, it's never been this fast before, unless my dad somehow got an upgrade even though BT are complete richards to their employees. It went to 5mb/s for about 5 seconds then slowed back to 1.1.

my internet can go up to 3mbps on a good day

it can normally go to at least 1.3mbps though

My reaction to this when I first saw it. Then when it went back down again.

what rates (in down/up format) do your ISP promise you in mbps

Speedtest says nearly 10mb/s, however it's bullstuff and I get 1.5mb/s as a normal peak. This is only just happening today.

that's because speedtest measures mbit/s, not mb/s

10 Mbit/s = 1.25 Mbyte/s
