You're being too belt tight with commands. And plus you're waiting on the forum to decide entirely for the character. If you think nobody is going to make a favorable suggestion you should continue the story until you come to a point that offers the audience more flexibility. The Character also needs to display some independence, where the forum community helps act as his inner thoughts but at the same time making decisions of his own if the suggestions are not good enough.
