Author Topic: Is v21 coming out yet?  (Read 9627 times)

You would lose all connectivity to the internet, period. This isn't strictly true, I think connections by IP addresses would still work.
Didn't that virus just attack you're DNS to like forget it up so you won't be able to use it?

The DNS-OK.US site relied on the government provided DNS servers to determine if a system was or was not infected.  Those servers were deactivated on July 9, 2012 in accordance with the expiration of the court order that authorized those servers.

It changed it to its own server, hence the name DNSChanger. I don't known the specifics of the virus, but there is a lot you could do by with this, like directing people to other sites where they would get infected with more viruses. If you removed the virus then went back into the control panel and changed your DNS back everything would work again. Unless it damaged some system files too, in which case you might have to do a repair install.

I'm so glad I defined auth.blockland.us in the hosts file, because Blockland servers like crashing if they can't reach the master server.

Why can't we have some sort of address caching to prevent issues like this, so long as the master server doesn't move like it did once?

HIS HOST FORGOT TO RENEW ITS DOMAIN

This is something Badspot pays for?

Operating systems cache DNS queries, why reinvent the wheel? DNS has so many layers of redundancies making errors very rare, implementing address caching at the BL application level would be pointless.

How is this related? That's so old, The Planet turned into Softlayer ages ago. I doubt the domain is even in use anymore.

Lol stuff, just did a whois, oops.

I shalt BackOrder the servers and become king of Blockland.

In the case you didn't just notice, a portion (but note, not everyone) of people wasn't able to reach the forums. That obviously means OS caches didn't do the best job, so why would it do any better for servers?

Edit:

Me no talk
Well, it takes 45-50 days for it to become available. Also, it appears they forgot to renew it in time last year?

See? Don't be so jumpy to prove me wrong.
I'm not aware of the situation, but it may be that they're done with the domain but Badspot is still using old name servers. No way I can tell if they forgot or are phasing it out.

Well there are definitely going to be a lot more people with problems when the cache exceeds it's TTL then, gosh.

My gosh, this happened exactly one year ago. What a stubborn host.

forget, there's a history of this: 2007

Don't read too much into it, some name servers are responding with theplanet name servers now.

Funny because the last time badspot posted a DNS error topic, it was on this day a year ago. beat me to it.

Surely the release of v21 wouldn't cause these things?

Ephialtes has always been sarcastic at times. He was even being sarcastic about leaving RTB and giving his place to Kalphiter.

I was so disappointed...

Giveing RTB to Kalphiter is a BAD IDEA    think of how long the ban list would be in just 1 day

Like anyone is going to listen to your bad grammar anyway?

He wasn't even being serious...shut up
