Author Topic: a few random drawings i've done  (Read 5224 times)

Nothing spectacular, just want some suggestions on how to improve.

My dog. Done a long while ago as a test.

A fox character I made, not very proud of this but here it is anyway.

A Warriors fan character I made.

The most recent one, a green version of the new furby coming out in a few months. I made this a few days ago. I like it right now but there's probably mistakes I'm missing.

I have no idea what the heck a Furby is...

But it sure is ****ing cute. :3

Nothing, really, except you're furthering the stereotype that deviantArt is filled with nothing but poorly drawn foxes, wolves, etc.

As for actual criticism, you should work on your basic fundamentals a bit more. eg proportion, line quality, general composition, blah blah blah.
For example, the proportion on most of the drawings are a bit off (length of dog, head on the fox, legs/eyes on cat.) Generally, a better understanding of proportion will come with a better understanding of your subject matter, so study up on the different animals or whatever you want to draw. Anatomy isn't a bad place to start, especially in this case, as it was difficult to tell what some of the characters were. (The fox doesn't look like a fox, and the cat looks more like a dog.)

As for line quality, the lines should be smoother (and anti-aliased, lol) and more confident looking. A nice trick is make the lines bigger than they need to be and erase away the excess, so you're able to get more confident strokes. (That's assuming you're using a tablet; if not, make use of the line/pen/curve/circle tools more often.)

Oh, and try and go for more dynamic looking pieces instead of the same side-shot every time.

One, what ChickenMaster said and not only.
Two, there's Furaffinity.
Three, that is not art.

1: ok yes i read that, it's a good explanation.
2: i don't like furaffinity.
3: technically it is

Working on a wolf

Obviously this is just a start, I'll work on it more in a bit, but is there anything I can improve now?
(don't say color/background/shading, I'll do that after I get the lines finished)

the base of that tail sure is big
