This is a habit I learned on SA but it applies to practically any forum. Just read what you write after you write it, and think "Is this contributing to the topic at hand?" And if not, just hit the back button. Nobody exactly cares about your opinion, nobody's hinging on your words, it's not necessary to post if you're feeling tired or whatever. I mean if you forget up something due to reading something wrong, that's one thing, but if you're feeling tired there's nothing saying you need to post. Go to bed, the thread'll still be there in the morning.
