Author Topic: how do i script weapons?  (Read 2448 times)

i have been wondering for a long time now on how to script weapons, vehicals, decals, etc. all i want to know is what do i use to script, and what codes and such do i need.

You'll need Notepad/TextEdit for scripting and Blender/Milkshape or another modeling program for making models.

As for the scripting itself, it's fairly complicated. All I can tell you is to read default scripts, or other people's scripts, and read through the modding help forums.

how do i read other peoples scripts?

were can i get notepad and blender

You have to teach yourself.

Ok i got blender and notepad but now what do i do

If you needed to know how to get notepad, I really don't think you will have much of a chance in learning Torquescript, but if you really are committed to learning, I would suggest you start by changing variables within the default weapons and vehicles. Once you build up a knowledge of what each thing does, you can start to look at creating you own functions. I wouldn't recommend that you start making your own models until you know how code their functions, unless you already have a knowledge of 3D modeling. Although judging from what you have said, I don't think you do.

Your right i dont    also how do i open up a default weapon on notepad

ok nvm    could someone PM me the steps to get the software then the steps on what to do

i got milkshape but it says i need a lisense

MilkShape is easy to learn and costs $35 or 25€ but at the end of the day it's not very good software.
Blender is hard to learn and it is free plus it is a better modeling program than MilkShape.

Not exactly hard.
You just have to take your time with it.
Anyway-Small thing for learning how to script
How to use blender-Please do NOT use 2.63a, if that's what you downloaded, the model will be messed up when you open it in 2.49 for exporting.
Another topic on Blender
Another topic for exporting/importing in blender
Some more scripting help
and that's all I'm going to contribute.
