yeah this happened to me too, so i uninstalled avast because it's seriously a stuffty antivirus.
sees every single thing as a virus and kept all of my new steam games from downloading, i hate it.

Go to Real-time Shields, File System Shield, Expert Settings, Exclusions, add the Steam folder.

What does the trial consist of? For 30 dollars I'd rather stick to avast.

if you mean AVG Free, it's perfectly fine and I have never had a virus or a false alert

Holy stuff, this happened to me too, I was scared that a virus might have planted itself in my steam directory.
But nope, it's just avast being a richard, it thinks vstdlib.dll is a virus.

Go with AVG. Avast can be a pain sometimes.
