Author Topic: Please make vehicles properly  (Read 4687 times)

I could be wrong since I don't know what the vehicles would be like if they were a little more realistic, but it seems like adding realism to the vehicles performance might take the fun out of it. If you're in a race you want to accelerate fast, or else competitors are guaranteed to beat you. Especially if you bump into a wall or something even once. Making vehicles accelerate slower and stop slower seems like it'd ruin races. Maybe it would benefit rp's, but other than that it doesn't seem like it would do much good.

you makes some good points but you were being a little bit of a culo

Max speed is so low because we can't choose the speed.

Sure, in a real Turismo you'd be ABLE to go 150MPH. But are you always going to? No.

If we could set speeds (almost like cruise control) at different increments, I'd support your idea.

Two terms: Acceleration and client-sided gears.

The problem with weight is that if you set weight something too heavy the vehicle might decide to submerge in the terrain/interior after a jump. I tried setting a truck of mine to 900 and I was experiencing that. Currently, I set my heavier vehicles to 600. Also, the proposed weight for the Blocko Sedan is unfitting, as 70's European/Soviet cars were much lighter than today's compacts.

Also, you have to remember that wheelspeed is like how many studs you cover in 1 second. So setting it to 64 would mean that you would cover the distance of 128 studs in 1 second, which would be way too fast.

What I would really appreciate in BL would be some kind of a gearbox. Currently, the closest thing we have is the C key, but sometimes it's not quite enough.

128 bricks*

Unfortunately it's in the engine so Badspot is the only one who can do this.

You can make gears client-sided.

You can make gears client-sided.
do it and release it so we can work with it, stop loving talking about it and help us out here.

release it
Heh.
We are talking about the same Port, right?

probably not >.<

HAHA! if you want something done so bad, do it! handling, gears, brakes, mass. if you want vehicles to behave the way you think they should, make your own! thats the thing about being able to mod, you aren't stuck having to use the weapons or vehicles that are given to you! if i can do better, i do better.

Why do we need realistic vehicle perimeters in a game like this?
Also, why are you comparing the vehicles to the jeep that also breaks the rules you dislike?

I understand that realism is a neat idea, but it just doesn't work right in Blockland... ever.

But hey, if you think vehicles should be changed in this way, do it yourself. No one is gonna bend over backwards to appease you.

The fact that vehicles can only be used for TDM's since races are quite impossible with them without complaints about speed or no drifting bothers me and Port, apparently.
