Why do my icons keep doing this?

Depending on OS, you can reset your icon database.

Right click on the shortcut and set icon.

You can find all your icons for your steam games in Steam > steam > games.

Yes, they put a folder named steam in your Steam folder.

the ones from steam should be in the folders where the .exe lies
for CS:S it should be under (steamfolder)\steamapps\YOUR_USERNAME\counter-strike source\cstrike\resource
look in the respective game folder and it should be there for each game
