Author Topic: What Does IB Mean? (High School Question)  (Read 5297 times)

I'm reading something on my new High School's homepage and it mentions something about IB English.  What does IB mean?

international baccalaureate

it's for the smart kids.

international baccalaureate

BTW: do NOT take these classes with intentions of getting the medallion.  I knew some guys that worked SUPER hard, and lost their social lives.. for what?  It's essentially nothing.

I've heard countless stories of people getting a programming job (or IT in general) without even going to college.

Not saying that college doesn't mean anything.

they're the same concept.
Except IB is much harder than AP.

Thank you for answering my last question, but now I have another one.

The school has a summer reading project.

My choices are;
Quote
The Truth about Forever (Dessen)
When Cricket’s Cry (Martin)
All Creatures Great and Small ( Herriot )
Breathing Underwater (Flinn)
Lonesome Dove (McMurtry)
The Alchemist (Coelho)
Something Wicked This Way Comes (Bradbury)
Nineteen Minutes (Picoult)
Seabiscuit (Hillenbrand)
A Child Called It (Pelzer)
Emma (Austin)
Great Expectations (richardens)
Catching Fire (Collins)
As Simple as Snow (Galloway)
But Wikipedia has no article on 90% of them.  I'm would prefer the one with the least pages because I'm not exactly sure when school starts but I know it's soon.

ok well catching fire is part of the hunger games trilogy and apparently the books are pretty good so maybe go with that one

maybe bradbury.
he wrote fahrenheit 451.

i wouldn't recommend any books in a series, as that will be pretty stupid to start reading a book that's in the middle of some series.

Depends on the course, Some IB courses are more intensive than some AP courses and vice versa. It's a credit thing, though. IB course credits are valid internationally, get it? AP courses I'm pretty sure are only valid in America and some international schools with lots of American students
