+100000 respect for dusty

The federal government recognizes the institution because the federal government was founded on christian principles, as was the whole of western civilization.

That's wrong. The Separation of Church and state exists for a reason. The US was not founded based on religion.

Last thing, if your logic was true, why would gay people pretend to be gay?
if someone's pretending to be gay, they aren't gay

I honestly can't think of a single reason to oppose gay marriage. Or straight marriage.

And the whole "gay people choose that" thing was disproved long ago. Although, you could really just ask a gay person if he chose to be gay, and he'd say no.

Also, because I missed this loving idiocy:

Quote
The Treaty of Tripoli (Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the United States of America and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli of Barbary) was the first treaty concluded between the United States of America and Tripolitania, signed at Tripoli on November 4, 1796 and at Algiers (for a third-party witness) on January 3, 1797. It was submitted to the Senate by President John Adams, receiving ratification unanimously from the U.S. Senate on June 7, 1797 and signed by Adams, taking effect as the law of the land on June 10, 1797.

The treaty was a routine diplomatic agreement but has attracted later attention because the English version included a clause about religion in the United States.

As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan [Muslim] nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

America was not, and never will be a Christian nation. We are an atheist state.

except our money says in god we trust and our pledge is under god and etc.

Our money and pledge are unconstitutional. It was changed in 1953 because America was afraid of Soviet Russia, who was also an atheist state. So by 'affirming' our belief in one God (which is illegal mind you because money is federal property) we would be better than them.

Uhh...
Are you implying that America is suppose to be atheist?
1st amendment allows me to believe whatever someone actually wants to believe and just because someone doesn't believe doesn't mean the other person is bad for not believing in the same.

America is atheist. The law should in no way take into account any sort of religion or religious laws, or religious texts such as the bible. This is why the Separation of Church and State exists - everyone is free to believe what they want but the law should be impartial. Influenced in no way by religion. I'm sure there's a better word than atheist but I can't remember it.

America is not atheist.... America is known as the "Great melting pot" for a reason because its everything in one.

I'm sure there's a better word than atheist but I can't remember it.
There is a better word because Atheist isn't the right word.

Here it is: Irreligion is an absence of, indifference towards or hostility towards religion.

I like that better.
Saying that America is Atheist is like saying "hey we are all non-believers" but saying that America is irreligious than its saying "Some of us still believe but aren't gonna let that be in the way"

gay marriage is an abomination and all those in support should be executed.

plus, gay marriage is gay.

This logic here is flawed so much.

To be a christian all you have to do is believe in the essence of Jesus or god or some stuff like that. you dont have to be die-hard christian and read the bible and go to church. I'm christian and i know all about it because I've read the bible and i still support gays.

your god tells you gays are bad and you should treat them as such.

i dont care how you defend it in your own mind. or pick and choose what god's rules to follow or not. that faulty stuff is classic christian actions. you all do it differently and what is convenient in your modern life.

jesus did absolutely nothing to the religion but change HOW you get into heaven. all of god's word is still the same.

i know you are confused, and you create modern christian logic from it all. but thats your religion's fault, not yours or mine.
