This is absolutely fascinating. I've been listening to the livestream all day. From the little physics lessions to the interviews.

oh no, i understand the significance, i just don't exactly find it interesting. i mean sure it would be cool to watch it land or something, but i wouldn't be very interested in watching it drive around at like .1 inches per hour for a whole day.

We're watching the landing? :s I would neither like to watch a rover drive across sand for hours but am waiting for the results of the research. The big thing at the moment is seeing if the rover isn't going to fail the landing and a lot of us expected to see something about the landing on youtube

Plus a lot of money's gone into this. Even people who aren't interested in space would like to know the money didn't go to waste

That would just be so disappointing to find out that the rover just failed the landing. I suspect that's half the reason I'm forcing myself to stay up, if I get up tomorrow and found out this thing failed I'm going to be pissed I didn't stay up to watch it all.

I find it very interesting. i remember when they launched pheonix, i love the hype. and now i can see a computer model of the lander on my computer to see how close and/or how far it is from touchdown.

New York isn't quite the education center of the United States, not much view of the stars either. I can walk around my town and find well more than half with an interest in astronomy. Hell they don't have to be interested in astronomy, I'm sure they would still want to watch this.
You strike me as the type of person that if they were alive would not have watched the Apollo 11 landing.

Coverage starts at 11:30EST I think so the countdown should be around when it lands.

Also I doubt you could even see the stars in NYC theres so much light pollution
