Author Topic: Configuring server to better player count.  (Read 814 times)

I'm tried of people complaining about lag. I've noticed dedicated blockland server ONLY take up (at most) 400mb of ram. I was wondering if i could configure the server to increase player count? In the config/server folder there is a file called "prefs.cs". In this file it contains network settings for packet size and speed.
Quote
$pref::Net::PacketRateToClient = "128";
$pref::Net::PacketRateToServer = "128";
$pref::Net::PacketSize = "1023";
$Pref::Net::LagThreshold = "400";

Would increasing these settings allow for more players and in return increase ram usage?
Also What does LagThreshold mean? Is this the max ping before the yellow "LAG" thing pops up?

Lower $Pref::Net::PacketSize and that should decrease bandwidth usage.

Lag is mostly caused by your internet connection.

yes.

What i'm trying to ask is: Could we increase the ram usage of the dedicated server to decrease the lag? Kinda like minecraft, the default setup(1gb ram) could hold roughly 5 players. But when u used up to 3.5gb of ram u could hold 20+ players.

what happens if we set it to 1
the icon would stay there forever due to how torque rounds up and how it is apparently physically possible to travel faster than light.

No.

what happens if we put 0

Yes. Get Resource Hacker and allow BL to use up more memory.

No.
Why no? Would love an explanation.

What the hell?

loving i mean impossible

point is: you have to travel less than 0 ms to get it to round up to 0, therefore maybe disabling the lag icon.

therefore traveling at -0.0(0 repeating)1 ms

RAM really doesn't have to do with lag.
