Author Topic: My computer has been blue screening a lot lately  (Read 2293 times)

this is particularly humorous because U isn't used in base 16 (?)
only A, B, C, D, E, F
00 - FF
no UU

Too high RAM usage etc.
this is irrelevant lol
if the computer needs more free ram it moves unused memory to the pagefile
do what dkamm says

Wikipedia's BSoD page has no listings for Vista and 7, but yes 8.

My brother's computer has blue screens, but what happens is it just restarts and a window pops up saying Problem : BlueScreen. Win 7

lol you're stupid

windows vista and 7 can both BSOD, did you expect wikipedia to tell the truth?

Uh, no. The more familiar one you're thinking of may be:

That is only Windows 98 and lower

Yes it does. Windows Vista and 7 are part of the Windows NT family.

It does tell the truth.

F8 during bootup > disable automatic restart on system failure.
or: msconfig and look for something of the above.

now tell me 7 doesn't have BSODs.

Sorry I just kind of dissapeared. My computer was built 2 Christmases ago.

I also used the tool. I have 7 blue screens on record since 7/13/12

What information should I post about the individual blue screens?

Click on the most recent one, and tell us what it says underneath "Bug Check String", and on the bottom half, the file names of the files highlighted in red.

Nothing for bug check string, however the files are as follows

atikmpag.sys

dxgkml.sys

dxgmms1.sys

I'm pretty sure it's my graphics card failing for some reason, but I'm not sure why.

do you have any onboard graphics?

if so, try to game on that, you're going to need to uninstall your current video drivers and install the onboard, when you game try to play for longer periods and if it still fails, tell us.
if it doesn't, the GPU dun goofed.

I blue screen a lot lately.
MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE MY COMPUTER CAN'T HANDLE MY POWERFUL INTERNET
It only seems to happen when a file starts downloading at 10Mb/s.

Graphics card drivers can cause blue-screens if installed incorrectly or if the version is unstable in the first place.
Try completely removing them and then installing them from a fresh download of the drivers if possible
