Author Topic: Why does crouching look like going prone  (Read 1910 times)

A good way to crouch is to /sit and look upwards.

Crouching should be more like kneeling. The player's feet go back and their torso goes down.

I personally like the crouching as it is right now.

Having an actual crouch would look weird, in my opinion, since the blockhead body is entirely rigid (No bend around the torso, as it's a solid piece of plastic, with no bendable spine), it has no knees, and any moving the feet around would mean that the invisible legs would appear to be really long.
I don't think it would look right.
Also, think about people using peglegs. They are a full leg, yet have no knees, so they can't be adjusted in anyway beyond being fully-straight from the hips.

Plus, I'd hate having another button to use for crouching and then going prone.
I'm very comfortable with my keymap as it is.

okay. i agree with dooble.

let's change the name from 'crouching' to 'prone' and be done with it.

How is going prone different than laying on your belly?

position the right foot behind, so the bottom of the foot is at a 90 degree angle to the floor
then, move the other foot forward to right about where the shoulder is, but still offset from the center the same distance as it is currently

leave the torso pointed as-is

like this?

Still doesn't look like crouching. Looks like the "sneaking" in Minecraft - which isn't crouching.

I don't think that a Blockhead crouch is possible then...

Same with a lego minifigure. In a sense, a Blockhead and Lego Minifigure have the same "bone structure" and limited movement. Crouching is supposed to somewhat hide you, and I just don't see that working with a Blockhead. Crawling or crouching - what we have now is perfectly fine.

Limitations of a figure that has a rigid torso and lacks core limbs lol.

Unless I am wrong the Blockland minifig is suppose to simulate the movement of an actual minifig irl. Twisting the legs and body and getting into awkward positions doesn't make sense.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

Yeah sorry I didn't read your post, you pretty much summed it up exactly.

If you wanted a crouch look you can prone and look up. someone said you sit and look up, i think they meant crouch.
