I may change my avatar somewhat often, but for the entire age of this account (a little over 4 years) it's always been some sort of fox, recently with blue marks like this one, which I supposed somewhat differentiates from all the other people with fox avatars (relatively) recently

I can always recognize Camera.

I look at the avatar then the name. Then I put the name to the avatar and pay attention to the avatars.

My brain automatically recognizes avatars associated with names. If I see something out-of-character or if it's an avatar I don't recognize, I consciously look back and make sure it's the right person/a new person and remember that.

It's because, even though the names are almost guaranteed consistent 100% of the time, the avatars are easier to passively see.

I can't read out of my focus zone, but I can see differences in colours and patterns and changes and whatnot extremely easily.

I can't say that I can really recall any that you've had for so long that I can identify you by it.

The only avatar I can even recall in any detail at all of yours is the one you have right now, and only because it's right there.

If I'm reading topics and you've posted in them, you're one of the people I would definitely have to read and acknowledge the name.
Writing style can come into a bit, when identifying people, but mainly it's either the name or the avatar.


There are some people however, who regardless of what they have now, or have had for a long time, I still can't imagine them without a certain avatar.
Even though Regulith currently has an MLP avatar, I still frequently put his old avatar image of the blue man (spy?) in the sombrero to his name, since he had that or variations of it for so long.
