Author Topic: S4 League Map - Tunnel - Fumbi Ball flagtype modeled and in-game  (Read 1429 times)

"Who's that man?! Who's that man?!"

Quote
A Touchdown, or TD, is where you capture the ball (known as a Fumbi) and take it to the opposing team's goal. The location of the team's goals and the Fumbi spawn point is dependent on the map in which the match is taking place in. Maximum amount of players are 8 versus 8.
This is going to be an evented recreation of S4 League's Touchdown gamemode, as per the description above. All of the game functions aregoing to be event based within the map.

The map in question is going to be, for now, just Tunnel. It's simple to build to and is fair and symmetrical.
I didn't really put much mind to looks rather than the design and staying close to the original.

Hopefully I'll have it game-ready by tomorrow. Thoughts?

That's a neat concept. I like it.

new flag type
fumbi ball made for my Tunnel Touchdown

looks pretty tasty on the player's head

an unfortunate side effect of being mounted to the body is that it will be angled according to the player's movement
there's not really anything i can do about it, but maybe you can mount it to the legs or just make it static above the player's head? i dunno, alternatively i can just remove the spotlight effect

what i feel is a bigger issue however is that the ball isn't aligned correctly with the spawn brick

i made sure that everything in the model is centered on the ball, even the detail empties, this didn't help. i'm going to assume it's a side effect of the item spinning, since i recall the old item spin add-on had similar issues.

it looks just fine when dropped too. i'm hoping you can sort that out.

you can download the whole add-on here and just use the model as you like.

note please that i didn't feel like figuring out how to actually add it into the flag-type selector thing, so it just replaces the current default flag pole that i made forever ago.
if you prefer, the raw model (.dts and .blend just in-case) and its textures can be downloaded here:

here's hoping some good comes of this
