i have a NVidia GeForce 9400 GT is that good or bad? (completly noob to computer stuff)

I'm using a NVidia GeForce 9500 GT on my desktop computer and shaders/shadows work perfectly on all settings. It isn't a problem with the NVidia GeForce series as the title states.

I have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M and I have the same issue.  I cant see the shaders.

For starters, DRIVER updates from NVIDIA are free. But the base unit, the PHYSICAL GRAPHICS CHIP is extremely weak, no matter how "updated" it is. It's also very old.

Open nVidia control panel and select your card.
Automatic detection for eg. optimus won't work.

What do you mean by select it? I have two graphics cards but the other one isn't an nvidia.
