If i'm not mistaken the new amd cpu's are also used for graphics. Also its probably the same price because its newer even if its not as good

I would say go with the Phenom.

I would say the FX.  The Caches are larger, faster clock speed, uses less power, and is smaller.  Do these use the same socket type?
