Author Topic: My Keyboard's Backlight  (Read 1511 times)

So I bought a Laptop with built in LED's that light up the keyboard. (At least I think there LED's) An expensive one too. There are three lights in use. One lighting the left side, one lighting the middle portion, and one lighting the right side. I can use a program that came with my computer to mess with the colors of the lights.

I noticed something odd while experimenting with colors I like. The Light on the right side doesn't produce the color red. It may sound strange. For example If I chose the color yellow it will appear as green, if I choose the color white it will appear as cyan, because there is no red being produced. It makes sense if you under stand the physics of it.

It bothers me so much because I'm a little OCD about it. Does anyone know what I could do that doesn't involve shipping it off to get repaired?

pics or it didnt ever exist and you are criminal scum selling us fake chocolate
your laptop is color blind

a rgb led has 3 leds inside of it, one red, one green, one blue. colors are produced by the leds getting different voltage, if you want red, the red led gets max voltage, and the other two get none. the electricity doesnt reach the red led.

So you think maybe a wire somewhere is messed up and electricity cant get to it?

most likely yes, but i dont think you can fix it yourself.

Haha. Probably not. Do you think I could take it to a place closer to where I live or would I have to ship it back to the manufacturer?

i have no idea. i am not educated in the area of finding laptop backlight repairmen.

suggestion: don't try to make it red, and make all the other colors match it

I never got the point of backlit keyboards.
Sure, it's necessary to have little lights to indicate caps lock and such, but not a complete backlight.
It'd get very distracting.
