Author Topic: Shaders not Working/Driver Update  (Read 726 times)

I have run Blockland on my Mac and I can't get shaders to work. I know that I have to update my graphics driver, but I can't find a website that offers a driver update for the ATI Radeon X1600.

I did follow Badspot's update your drivers FAQ, but the link in the FAQ didn't work. I keep getting the error:

Invalid URL
The requested URL "/", is invalid.

And then some "Reference" code.

I'm also getting the console spam "LightManager::uninstallGLLights: no lights installed!" I may post a console log later.

if you're posting in help it's really helpful to include it in the OP

I'm getting the console log right now.

Your card is insufficient for running the new update, and OS X is missing a GLSL extension.
The X1*** and Geforce 6 series are both insufficient for running the update, stop trying to run it on these.

An X1600 can only run OpenGL 2.0, with GLSL 1.10.  The shaders that BL uses require a newer version of OpenGL than that.

How does one acquire a newer version of OpenGL? What is GLSL?

This mac is pretty old. I take it the only way to get shaders to run is to get a new graphics card?

That's just some console spam that everyone's been having.
Badspot can't figure out the problem.
