Author Topic: Empty your virtual trash!  (Read 870 times)

I was backing up some files, when I got a message saying my startup disk is almost full, so I checked how much space I had... 178MB. I was like, "WHAT?"
I checked how much space my trash took up, ...
15.44 GBs.
The oldest thing in there was from Nov. 1 2011!
I'll have to leave my CPU on all night to delete it.
I recommend you empty your trash--- and don't just empty it, SECURE empty it
every week or so, or this might happen to you.  :panda:

my recycle bin is filled with research

I'll have to leave my CPU on all night to delete it.
15.44 GB takes me 5 minutes to delete on a 1.6 GHz CPU..

Your cpu must suck! O.O

I didn't rename my recycle bin the "Aperture Science Emergency Intelligence Incinerator" for nothing.

This is my old CPU, so that is true ;)
edit:
I secure delete it, perma-wiping it from my computer's membory.
Regular would take about 3min.
-also-
I have a trash not a recycling bin.
(Macs have trashes, windows have recycling bins.)

not sure why you added that to OP but ok

I can delete 50 GB in 12 seconds. Scrub.

even if you get rid of something from your recycle bin someone with enough general computer knowledge could easily restore that said file.

Not with mac's Secure Delete.

Not with mac's Secure Delete.
mac's "secure delete" moves the file to a hidden location on the computers harddrive im sure. all computers do.

I had some stupid addons that I never used, a shortcut to roblox's player thing (it really sucks. using google chrome is easier), and a couple of folders where the programs didn't uninstall right

so very hidden, I could barely see that line at the bottom of your post, or the whole extra line of text when I quoted it
