Author Topic: What causes this drop in users on steam?  (Read 1413 times)

As you can see, there was a large dip in users online between the yesterday and today for a brief time, perhaps for an hour or so? I've seen this happen on several occasions before and I'm curious as to what the cause could be.

Anyone have any insight?

Steam updates, server downtime, ISP outage.
There are many potential causes

steam servers were down as forget yesterday

Poor server management.

What more to say? :cookieMonster:

If the servers were down, why are there still about a million people online? I would think it would be either all or nothing :/

holy stuff its robo :O

yes, yes it is. I'm surprised someone recognizes me, I don't really remember doing anything significant in this community...

I think I know what that means, but I'm not sure I understand 100%, what is a localized server?

The steam servers are run in Madagascar and they heard there was a cold going round, so they shut down the servers for a few hours and went to hide in a box

Seems Legit.

Madagascar is renowned for thinking Steam servers transmit viruses.

Well that explains the outage, good thing it only lasted an hour.
