Author Topic: ATI Raedon HD Not Working With Shaders...?  (Read 3049 times)

I appear to running on an ATI Raedon card (thought I was running on Intel graphics until I looked at the log), but I still don't have shaders working. I think I have located the problem, but am not able to fix, because when I lookd in the .glsl shader files, I can't locate anything having to do with my problem. Check out the log below (paying close attention to the bolded areas).

Everything here says I should be able to run shaders, except for the fact that the 3D textures seems to be disabled. Any ideas?

Sorry, but I'm afraid you're wrong. I've run shaders on many different applications on my Mac (including Blender and Unity3D, both shader-intensive), and they work just fine. Turns out that most Macs and PCs could happen to have nearly identical internals; the real difference between Macs and PCs are they way they're manufactured, and the OS. Please don't turn this into a gigantic Mac vs PC debate. I like both, and see no reason to argue about it. I really just want to fix my shaders.

please don't try to help if you're not going to be helpful

but anyway your video card doesn't have all of the requirements to run shaders

How is this possible though? I run shaders and OpenGL just fine all the time. I think it's something else. It seems kinda strange that the only thing I can't run is 3D textures. D:

i don't know because it is weird that you can run everything else except for 3D textures
the 4 series aren't that old as compared to other models. unless it's a mobility model

Unhelpful and inflammatory comment.

Odd Bluetooth.

I have an ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5470 that runs Blockland and others games very nicely on my laptop. I looked into your card and the 4600 series and your particular model should support shaders unless I've missed something.

Check the Updates thing and see if there are any updates. If so, update (espically if they have to do with displays, graphics, opengl, etc.)

The strangest thing about it is how well it works for other apps (on an iMac BTW, so no, it's not a mobile card). I can get 90+ FPS out of Minecraft, run CoD4 just fine, and mess around with high-poly meshes in Blender, yet Blockland simply refuses to put a few shadows on my screen. What. A. Bummer. I was really looking forward to it too. :(

And Brian, I did just update to revision 1701. No dice. :(

Just to confirm and for the sake of the topic, you have enabled shaders in Options and selected "medium" or "high"?

I've spoken with a few people who didn't realize its not enabled by default, just wanting to confirm this with you in case you had a face desk moment and forgot. :3

I am using a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and I am getting the same problem, but I am on a mac

Any of you have dual boot and could test it in Windows?

Also I know in earlier Mac models the Macintosh graphics cards would be listed as the same model as Windows counterparts but would have certain differences. Sometimes online you can see certain older graphics cards listed as Mac (for example "ATI 2342 & ATI 2342 [MacBook])

i guarantee you that a 4650 and 330M can indeed run these shaders through OpenGL
blame steve jobs

yeah I have dual boot I will test it out tomorrow
