Author Topic: Blockland is becoming more of a realistic FPS engine than a building game (rant)  (Read 9144 times)

people the argument is over you don't have to keep spitting out your opinions here anymore.

I mean seriously what makes you think that nobody else has thought of what you're saying and posted it in the last five pages.

this topic should be locked

most gamemodes ignore building. Building is the core mechanic of Blockland and the vast majority of games within Blockland ignore it.

this is pretty much the reason right here, why half of blockland players dont build anything.
because even stuffty builders can have fun and feel rewarded for building simple low detail things. but gamemodes dont support any of that.

in fact i cant think of ANY game mode that really incorporates building.
they all just imply the use of the "scenery" post building. Then the gamemode has a purpose.

you could literally load any default build, and any gamemmode that exists is rdy to use it.
this is great for a fast setup, but it really kills the need to play blockland...

now how about a DM/TDM where the players can build quick structures without being a full fort-wars or bringing it down to the level of a tf2 engineer

it'd be hard to find a balance there, but still

that and something about rotation. having the whole field rotate periodically or something. just popped into my head.

Current topic: stuffty DM/TDM's, why they're stuffty and how to not make them stuffty.

Shadows and shaders make me feel like I am playing CrCIA 2.

If you have a problem with it host your own server and watch as you magically increase the amount of Sandbox servers.

just curious: what is a kilometric forgetton?
1000 meter ton?
1000 forgettons, I assume a forgetton is ~10000 tons, so that's ~10 million tons?

@OP: lol, if you get mad about dms in blockland then go rant on the Garry's mod forum about this.
It's a sandbox game, and people make DMs on it too.

well a kilo is 1000 grams.
1000 grams = 2.20 pounds

and a ton = 2000 pounds

all kilos are metric...

so a forget * 2000 = a forget2000

* 2.20 = 4400 forgets

My only issue with your argument is that having CoD DMs means we have fewer non-CoD DM servers. The people who host that junk probably won't host anything better. There's not a limit of how many servers there can be (well, there probably is, but we're very far from hitting it) so it's not like the bad servers are keeping good ones from existing.

gmod has an all-serious theme and has guns in default you christian
the theme of blockland is cartoony

i told myself to not post as much in this thread but here's the breaking point:
I wonder if there's a connection.
here's your answer: absolutely loving none

"hey gaycarrotus released bl main adventure mode and made shaders and terrain coexist! he also made pandan a good guy! let's harass him for his name!"

^ example of a gargantuan gaping hole in your logic if you honestly think I made a blockland sequel, which I haven't
i doubt you're even trying now

it's a sandbox game, it can be whatever you want it to be with a bit of effort.

i'd rather play a deathmatch other than a family rp.

Blocklands theme is blocky

Blockland is similar to Garry's Mod. It keeps a simple foundation so it can easily be modded in order to bend it to whatever gameplay style the server host wants.

Complaining about TDMs and RPs in Blockland is like complaining that Garry's Mod does the same thing.

People are obviously playing these servers for a reason. Supply and demand. They want TDMs and RPs, then give it to them.

To those who want something else, then play on a different loving server.

EDIT: Besides, the only reason you're complaining about this is because you're a pretentious forget who thinks TDMs and RPs are too "mainstream".
