It also doesn't help that I cant figure out how the Engineer and Spy works.

Engi is pretty much drop down a turret to protect something, usually a control point or the payload cart.
Spy is getting behind people and stabbing their back. There's alot more to it than that, so it's pretty much the most complicated class.
