Sometimes I wonder if people know the forums run on a widely used forum software and that Badspot didnt create them himself
I would understand. it's largely different from the way most other forums function (and equally different cosmetically), and that one line near the bottom isn't exactly attention-grabbing

I don't know how much he's edited the default SMF junk, but this is my favorite forum layout wise.

Its just SMF with the default YaBB theme (An older version but the similarities are still extreme)
I just dont think most people know that forums are a software, I think they just figure the website owner coded it

Well this is pretty much the only forum I'm active on.
I'm not even active on facepunch, I just use that for help and last used it like a year or two ago.

Simple Machines Forums also lets you display the personal text and shortcuts to the AIM/email/other links of the person in question below their avatar, with their signature at the bottom of their post. You can also choose to display a user's post count below their avatar as well. I'm not quite sure why Badspot disabled all of that, but he has his own reasons.

Badspot would have a rule against it and ban offenders. Every forum with signatures allowed does.

I wonder how much money it would take for badspot to give someone admin (not mod) on the forum
not even the secrets of the universe would make badspot just "give away" admin.

Turning that off saves effort.
