I'm not saying this was justified or anything, but, if I were a police officer, accompanied by five other police officers (all wielding guns) and a police dog, and one guy was pissed off enough to take us on armed with nothing but a knife, I'd probably unload as many rounds as possible into him if he so much as scratched his nose.  I mean, this guy only has a single knife, and he's not even slightly intimidated by six armed police officers and a motherloving German shepherd.  They say he's mentally unstable.  Well, to think you could take on six armed cops with nothing but a knife, you'd have to be pretty insane.  Or on some kind of drug.

Well should it come down to that. Most of the time its shoot to wound or taze. Which reminds me of my Criminal Justice teacher who is a retired officer told me, "If you are an oifficer and if you are hoping to get into a fire fight at the end of the day then you should really reconsider and join the military."

Guys seriously, think about it, not everyone just thinks so logically when they are in tough situations with a lot of pressure. I'm sure looking back, those cops could probably think of 100 different ways they could have done things, and at least half of them probably would have left the guy alive. But a guy is coming at you with a knife, obviously dangerous, yelling profanities at the police and threatening them, and then someone fires. So more people fire because jesus the guy who fired knew what he was doing and they are freaked as hell, they aren't battle-hardened rambo soldiers who can stand down loving bears with a toothpick. They are just ordinary citizens who know how to use a gun and with a little more restraint. I would bet ALL of my money that if ANYONE else in this thread had  been put in that same situation, they would have done the same. They don't just breed cops to shoot citizens, they are meant to enforce the law and they do a damn good job. So good of a job that you can sit at your computer in your big house and fat around with your loving cheetos and hot pockets and complain about how stuffty cops are.

Not every cop just keeps beanbag rounds in his pocket, I doubt they even carry them at all unless they have been called for riot control.

Actually if you are ever around LA you will see LAPD use them frequently. Everywhere else its mostly pepper spray and sometimes the taser.

He was telling the people who were hoping to kill someone to reconsider because police are ment to be used as peace keepers, not crime fighters or anti-democray riot pepper spraying national socialists.

By the I want a career in law enforcement. One day I hope to work for County Sheriff.
