Author Topic: Ubuntu dedicated server hosting  (Read 1647 times)

I'm going to be renting out my ubuntu server as I no longer have any use for it (didn't in the first place). Its not the best specs for a server, it has an amd athlon II X3 CPU, 3GB ram and a 500GB HDD.

You can use it for what ever you want and I declare that I will not look through your files.

The internet has a dynamic ip so you will need to connect via this host http://dvdevelopers.homelinux.com (unless you want to pay out for another)

The server is UK based.

Payment will be a monthly paypal invoice (no contract but payment must be within 7 days of invoice being sent )

upnp is enabled on router but if ports need forwarding you will need to email me to let me know.

If your interested it is $20 £13 €16  a month.

Kalphiter is almost 1/4 of the price.

Well that's probably on a VPS server and this isn't just for blockland, this can be used for email, webhosting, other game servers, anything.

Current speed is 60/17.

What idiot would pay for something so expensive

i think he means hosting out the whole server, as opposed to just one blockland. In which case price isnt too bad....

if it's only one person it's okay

if it's over one then hell no that's stuffty

plus why are you using ubuntu/linux? windows servers > ubuntu servers

windows servers > ubuntu servers
depends on what you're using the server for.

depends on what you're using the server for.

excuse me but i don't think usability and incompatibility is very good on a server

I don't think running a stuff OS on a server is good either. :V

No you have the whole server you have all of it not just blockland and actually an ubuntu server has no gui (can be installed though) so you get better use of resources as well as this if it were windows then your looking at like $80 a month. windows dedicated (and dedicated as in you have all the hardware at use) is very expensive.

This is actually a VERY reasonable price compared to whats out there.

Which is why facebook uses linux servers which is what ubuntu is and which is why google uses modified ubuntu servers?

Stop it.

Stop it.

What? I'm just saying, Windows is a stuff OS. I don't think anybody actually believes that Windows is a better OS than Linux at this point. We're just stuck with Windows because it has the majority market share and most of the software.
