Author Topic: Laptop blew up.  (Read 1130 times)

So my old crappy DELL i got from my mom blew up after the first day because i tried applying a custom theme from Deviantart.

Explorer.exe fails to initialize with error code 0xc00000ba and my desktop is black with no icons or task bar, but task manager works fien and everything i open from there is fine except games.

Chkdsk does nothing and i've looked up multiple fixes and such and they don't have any effect.

So now i'm on my brother's $1500 laptop form QVC he gave to my mom but i'm restricted from downloading anything whether its safe or not and that includes steam.

Any ideas on how to convince them certain mods and steam is safe? Computers and me dont mix.

loving UPDATE: Add/Remove programs and control panel are apparently causing BSoD's but mcafee and Mbam dont detect any viruses.

explorer.exe (aka the thing that enables him to do anything with his computer) doesn't work.

I once tricked my friend into force quitting that by telling him it was Internet Explorer.

I did this once when I thought it was IE.
I was scared stuffless for a second.

I wouldn't even let you near anything that has to do with technology if you forgeted it up that badly by just trying to apply a theme.

Hah

i know lol. I replaced the original windows files with the theme files by dragging and dropping the theme into windows and using some sort of patcher so it would work. I forgeted up badly.
