It depends on the mood I'm in. Quoting from Port, I'll take the time to spell-check and capitalize properly if I'm feeling like typing professionally.

Better grammar is a good thing, it doesn't matter too much about capitalization (only of the word "I", refering to oneself), but making sure people can understand you is much needed.

I type with proper spelling, grammar and capitalization in-game too. Same when I send people text messages, or I'm posting on the forum. Basically everywhere.

I generally type with proper grammar and capitalization to the best of my ability, however, if the situation warrents it, I will just go full-on handicap.
But, most of the time I neglect the period, and punctuation in general during the end of sentences.
