Speaking of fanfics, my English teacher once said the following to me.
"You can write. You truly have a gift. I don't feel like strangling myself when I read your work.
Promise me you'll never waste it on fanfiction."
I've never tried but it can't be THAT bad?
Or am I underestimating the internet again?
there's good fanfiction and there's bad fanfiction just like with everything
there's good ice cream and there's bad ice cream
