Author Topic: Authentication Failed Gives out an IP Address?  (Read 2230 times)

So I was playing a TDM game and this guy with a username called DAVID followed by a ton of numbers joins. After a while this comes up

I have never seen this before and why does it give out the IP to everyone?

why does it matter if it gives an IP address anyway lol

You can't do stuff with someone's IP.

It's a public IP, it's supposed to. It's safe.

It gives out the IP for the host so he can probably check next time he joins.

that's happened forever. it's the player not communicating with the master server correctly.

(and the IP can lead to other things, but isolated nothing can happen)

or trying to do keysharing
or trying to change pref player netname

also whats bad about the ip

Well its not something you would like everyone knowing about, plus it will usually get the correct state you live in when you try tracking it down. Its just stalker-ish.

Not true. With that one IP on the picture I found where the person lives (the house address), their internet service provider, and a bunch of other stuff. I guess you can't use that unless you're a stalker or something, but you know.

Who cares if they know what state you live in.  It's not like they'll figure out your address.

It's public information.

You cannot figure out the exact adress

Well I know on xbox people who discover your IP can sometimes block the account. However this is on PC.
