Author Topic: Roof light effect  (Read 1386 times)

I've wondered for a while, how do people get the affect of a light put on the roof making the floor glow? Like in these pictures

I thought maybe I could try using an ambient light on an invisible brick, but instead I just got

Try raising the light source up a bit.

EDIT: Like in between the floor and light, in the middle

First pic is from Chriscorp in v20.

We did it by making the floor out of 1x1s for the fixed function renderer. Then we used Eksi's lights and placed the ambient light just above the floor spot.

I don't think this works with shaders due to the point light glitch

good idea, just tried that. The lit area is bigger now but it's still just as bright, which looks a little bit too bright. Are there dim ambient lights?

Are there dim ambient lights?

There is dim and dimmer.
They come with the ambient light pack on RTB, you should have them.

I'd suggest you put the light points in rows

Add some closer to the ceiling as well.

hows this?

The one problem now is that there's so many lights that I can only see a few at once XD

What kind of bricks are you using for the lights and how close are they to the wall? Take out your wrench so we can see them.

i like how the only thing standing in the way of amazing stuff is torque.

I wonder what Blockland would be like if it used the Unity engine...

The brick with the light is an invisible 2by2f on top of the blue bricks
