I tend to lash on to special effects and FX-stuff, and it's really one of my main judging criteria.
And old movies tend to lack in it due to limited computer stuff back then.

i think for movies like back to the future that applies

but like Some Like it Hot is probably one of the funniest movies i've ever seen and i've laughed far more at the Marx brothers than i have at any adam sandler movie, and i've quoted Casa Blanca more times than i can count.

They made Transformers in the 1980's, and the movie was fantastic. It was animated in the original style of the cartoons, and I still prefer it to the modern movies. Although the Bay films are preferable if you enjoy raw action and special effects.
