There's a public school network here with nothing blocked, but wireless access is protected by MAC address. If you ask they'll add you to the MAC database anyway.

At my old high school everyone had a monthly allowance of 1GB I think it was. They were trying to crack down on people using it to download games and crap, esp. Steam. They then capped the speed at something like 100-200KB to put people off downloading massive files.

Staff members had unlimited access. One of the staff passwords leaked and for a few months everyone was exploiting it for Steam until the management found out LOL.
