Author Topic: Is anyone here homeschooled?  (Read 7848 times)

i'm homeschooled and i go to church and i don't have friends
...because you don't socialize

Woah.. Tesla, no need to be that way you could have corrected me than just insulting me.

As for Pixel, I understand what you mean. Also homeschoolee's don't always get taught all they need.
I've met a couple of people who are homeschooled and they know about as much as a potato... One guy didn't even know what purple was.

I can't really agree with this at all
my uncle was homeschooled all his life and he has plenty
granted, he did go to church
My parents suggested I go to a church and make friends.

It would be hard to do without laughing.

...because you don't socialize
Stop. We dont need another topic about how hardcore antisocial anxiety omg depressed ShyGriff is

Social interaction comes from the person themself. It really tells you how a person is cut out if they go looking for friends or spend their time hiding.

I guess you could say I've been hardened on being on this forum a lot which are full of those type of people who are quick to insult and not explain themself. Sorry to offend.

And, you are however so heavily misinformed that people like above will come after you.

I've been homeschooled my entire life and I still have friends, but probably not as much as "normal." I still meet new people because I go to a co-op which is kind of like school, but on just one day of the week, and only a few specific classes (chemistry, computer, writing, etc.)

I'll try and list the pros and cons that I can think off of the top of my head.

Pros:
Get done earlier in the day than public school (usually)
 Learn at your own pace
Very easy to get help (if you have smart parents)
May or may not finish early on the school year

Cons:
 Not as many friends

This my be a bit biased because I've been homeschooled all if my life, but I honestly tried to look at it from both sides. Hope I helped and I can answer some questions if you have them.

This is true.

I know people who do go to public schools and have no friends.
If you really want friends, go out and find them.

Public school is great. And free.

Not in this country it isn't.

Revised statement: You're pretty much forced to interact with people, at least on a minimal level, if you go to a public (or private) school. Homeschooling, you don't have to every day.

EDIT: Tesla, where do you live?

I get home schooled, I also go to visit some friends.

No actually I didn't.
That kid had no clue what purple was.
Or any other colors, I guess art just wasn't one of his homeschooling classes.

Apology accepted, and I see what you mean. Maybe I should have checked my wording. I might have used the wrong words.

What I meant was people who are homeschooled and don't get out much aren't as confident when it comes to other people.

Unless you're in a school where they make you pay class dues.
$20-$40 a year my ass... bad enough they want $50 for a laptop that sucks more ass than a Windows Vista
