Author Topic: What counts as good grammar on a forum?  (Read 572 times)

Whenever i'm on the forum and not paying attention, i normally never add a period at the end of my sentences or capitalize the first letter, and i almost never capitalize a single I.

I normally take "good grammar" as in "good sentence structure and spelling, and commas and periods in between sentences.", when some people think it's the whole deal with everything capitalized and punctuated correctly.

What do you think?

ncummng grmmr national socialists

But seriously, it will become habit after a while to capital when needed.
Start now, it'll help in the long run.

I mean i use full proper grammar in real life (i forget to capitalize Is now and then), it's just a real bother having to do it when typing quick messages on a forum.

Never end a sentence with a preposition. That one bugs me, but I probably do it a lot.

I type/write exactly the same way no matter what I'm doing. Except, I guess, in official/school-related things I don't use emotes.

In that case, you don't have ground to stand on.
It isn't anything that doesn't make sense, to begin with.

Oh real life grammar?
I'm not the guy for this lol, I can be a grammar national socialists worst nightmare at times.

I only don't capitalize the first letter or add periods, and depending on how I feel I may or may not capitalize other proper nouns
but I always capitalize "I"
I feel stupid if I don't

I used to capitalize and add periods at the end of every sentence
now look at me

I almost always use good grammar on the forums, same with all papers.  The only place that my grammar is lacking, is on Blockland.

You do have ground on which to stand.
EDIT: Makes you sound pretentious to speak like this, though.

You might want to fix that, when it comes to typing a resume for jobs you'll want to make a good impression. And you can tell a bit about a person through how their typing grammar and such is.
Would you rather want a person who types like:
i wud lik 2 hav a jawb pls thnks
Or
I would like to apply for this job, thank you, Regards [name]

my grammar changes a lot
usually i'll type like this
if i'm REALLY FRUSTRATED i'll capitalize random words a LOT
If I'm trying to get people to take me seriously, I'll try to use better grammar.

yeah same. always. you look really stupid if you don't
