So stopping the blood from draining out of your body and helping speed the healing process to avoid infection is bad?
Yes, it kills whatever you burn, obviously. In addition, "Cautery was historically believed to prevent infection, but current research shows that cautery actually increases the risk for infection by causing more tissue damage and providing a more hospitable environment for bacterial growth."

In all honesty:Gauze rollDuct tapeBand-aids (multiple sizesScissors (only if it's in a hard box)Pocket knifeA small container of hydrogen peroxideRubbing alcoholIbuprofenThese are all incredibly helpful. The duct tape one wasn't a joke, that stuff literally fixes everything. If you've cut your arm open and your gauze won't hold tight duct tape that stuff on. Not to mention it's just great to have on you for whenever you may need it.
Um, using a hot blade is even less safe. That's why we typically use electrical, when necessary.
You won't be able to burn yourself with that amount of heat for more than 1/4 of a second, it's much better just to apply pressure with a bandage until you get to a better place.
Cauterization kills the flesh that you cauterize, which can cause it to start to decay, and greatly increases risk of infection. Just use a bandage or something.
Anecdotal evidence < empirical data.
You don't have to be a redneck to use ducttape for everything. It's a very useful thing to have around.
I have good pain tolerance.
This is true, but its mostly for Rednecks.Gotta monday rig that stuff!
