the iPhone version is broken as stuff, and usually if I don't already have a (recent?) chat open with you, it won't show me the message at all. not even who sent it
so, if you message me on steam, and I don't respond, wait about ten seconds, and send another one

I found IMO Instant messenger works very well, but it's big drawback is you can't be signed in simultaneously to it and to Steam on your PC.

The android version has its quirks too.  Namely, it is not reliable at all if you don't have a pretty decent connection.  It handles lost/weak connections very badly.

all instances of the iOS version I've used have exactly all those problems.
That's why I just stick to Yahoo! Messager. :P
