Author Topic: Reviewing Pizza!  (Read 1191 times)

Me and my brother decided to order three medium hand-tossed plain cheese pizzas from three different pizza shops from our area.
Why? 1) Wanted pizza, 2) Felt like reviewing/criticizing them, 3) Seriously for the hell of it.

This was our experience.

Boring facts:
Ordered simultaneously online at 1:15pm.
Arrived in this order: Pizza Hut (1:33pm) > Papa John's (1:38pm) > Domino's (1:43pm)
Each arrived literally five minutes after another.
Distance to house: Domino's (roughly 1mile) > Pizza Hut (roughly 1.5miles) > Papa John's (roughly 2miles)

Price: $45 (Pizza + "convenience fee" + tax + tip)
Pizza Hut
Papa John's
Domino's
= $7.00 + $2.49 + $0.94 = $10.43 (tip = $4.57)
= $9.99 + $2.00 + $1.08 = $13.07 (tip = $1.93)
= $7.99 + $2.99 + $0.99 = $11.97 (tip = $3.03)
(We gave $15 to each, mainly because we didn't want to do complicated math and just rounded it)

Here's a terrible ipod picture of the three.

My thoughts:
Which tasted best: Papa John's > Domino's > Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut: It was lukewarm when it arrived, almost cold. It tasted awful, hard to describe at that. It tasted like some odd meat combination of bacon and something else was cooked in it/around it that stuck to it, though being a pizza shop other toppings like pepperoni and whatnot are bound to be cooked with it. Still, whatever it was killed the overall flavor. I think it almost tasted overcooked too.

Domino's: It wasn't terrible but good god their new recipe is awful, far too much garlic that overpowers the entire pizza. Much more sauce than normal, almost too much. Just enough cheese to cover it, but it was like a thin blanket.

Papa John: The best way to put it is it didn't taste the worst out of the three. Not an overabundance of sauce (which is odd, the last few times I've had pizza from this place there was quite a lot), not overly seasoned crust, decent amount of cheese and such. Out of the three, this was the only one I returned to for more.

In the end I'd say we got what we paid for. Two friends are staying over, they and my other brother also dug in and criticized the pizzas too. Everyone agreed that Pizza Hut had the worst.

A definite waste of $45 (which me and little brother split), but it was a very fun and humorous lunch all the same.

i love my school's pizza

it might just be new york state's school food.

Papa John's will forever be the best place to get pizza (and sometimes Little Caesar's)

I never had Papa John's. We don't even have it here. Americans always get all the sweet-ass stuff.

So, I'd say Domino's is the best, in my opinion.

I always order from Papa Johns.  They taste great.

The best pizza I've ever eaten was a margarita Napolitana at a small pizzeria in Parma, Italy. Perfect sauce, watery but fresh and seasoned. The mozzarella was fresh too, evenly spread but with chunks here and there. Instead of stuffty canned oregano, the pizza was topped with fresh basil with some fresh oregano.

10/10; would bang

I feel like I just became 3% more Italian just from this one sentence fragment.

I've never seen a little ceasars outside of the US, and I'm eating their pizza right now, it's school lunch quality.

Better? Also, it has really nice prices, at least where I live.
