Author Topic: Kerosene heaters scare me.  (Read 1309 times)

I thought I'd share a serious fear of mine.
I'm DEATHLY afraid of Kerosene heaters, a few years ago I was in a camper with a kerosene heater, it was me, my family, and my dads buddy.
In the middle of the night the heater goes out filling the camper with deadly gas, luckily  my dads buddy wakes up and realizes whats happening so he fixes the issue and pretty much saved us all.

If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be posting here today.

And I am deathly afraid of them... I would rather go heatless than use one of those.
Also, its been many years since then but I still am not over that incident, I'm still afraid.

Read as kerosene haters and continued to do so believing some crazy cult of propane people had sabotaged a kerosene tank of yours to try and kill you. :S

The heater didn't go out by itself, it was actually me

Kerosene heaters are safe unless i'm the one trying to sabotage it so there, I hope your fear of them is now gone.

Until I eliminate you my fear shall be there.

It wouldn't have been that dangerous unless you were being handicapped and starting campfires in the trailer

Malfunction of heaters and stuff, it happens.

is that even dangerous? i mean trailers are not air tight, so you would have been able to breath fine. and unless you were smoking in the trailer then it wouldn't be a problem. and if someone was awake and lighting one up, they would have smelled the gas.

This camper was air tight, I mean so air tight you could almost take it to space if it wasn't for the fact it would collapse on itself.
Also everyone was straight up passed out except that one guy, he was partially passed out.

they also look scary

I'm not afraid of them when I can keep an eye on them/when their not started.

Its mostly just being asleep with one.

Why did I have a feeling that someone would say something like that?

I'm not afraid of anything
except brown recluses
it's more of a fear of their bite though

Imagine sleeping with one.... If you can't see one you don't know if its going to blow up or what.
