Once a day somebody, directly or indirectly, brings up a highly controversial issue such as laws or religeon, and both sides just duke it out. The thread starts out with simple opinions, a clean debate, and valid arguments. But inevitably, it turns into all out war with idiotic points, pompous opinions, non-valid points, straight up insults, and people lose sight of the original intent of the thread and the topic just crashes and burns.
Now this wouldnt be such a big problem if done just every so often, indeed a religeon war or a simmilar sceneario happens on every forum at sometimes in its life, but we have been doing it so much it's tiring. Honestly sometimes I feel like Im looking at the drama thread or something. This wouldnt be so angering if these arguments just popped up out of nowhere, but threads have just been asking for them! Threads just straight up saying "CREATIONISM SUCKS" or saying "WEED SHOULD BE ILLEGAL" or something of a similar nature. They're just asking for flame wars.
Yes, sometimes its fun to hear opinions, sometimes debate can be healthy, but we end up with just nothing but yelling profanities and really, your arguments cant change their opinion. Very rarely does saying "EVOLUTION IS A FRAUD AND HERE'S WHY:" will get someone to say "Ohh i guess i stop being evolutionist now."
I guess what I'm saying is: Could we please keep these occasions instead of routines? I'm pretty sure Im not the only one who is getting tired of this pointless bickering.
TL;DR: Stop arguing so much, dangit.
