Your body builds up a natural resistance to caffeine. If you ingest it at certain times in the day, your body produces a so-called 'antidote' for it. This is why smoking addictions happen, as well as habitual caffeine addictions.
If you had said 2.5 grams of caffeine at a time that you normally ingest caffeine, then it won't have much of an effect. On the other hand, I had 8 cups of coffee at about 5:00 PM.
