How to change a default sound file.

Just a simple request, i need instructions on how to make a sound that would play in blockland instead of the original.

that made no sense.

Specifically, i want to change the default "death" sound and replace it with my mp3 of a TF2 heavy saying "DED."
Every feeble attempt i make fails so i just want a quick how-to or a link to a quick how-to.

2 : Replace it with the sound in base/data/sound/ (named correctly)
3 : Right click the sound file, click Properties and check Read-Only.

Audiacity says there is an error whenever i try to export as WAV.
I think it'd be easier to convert the mp3 than to troubleshoot audiacity.

You seem to have misinterpreted my request.
I'm replacing the standard death sound with my own.
not looking for footstep,light,and jet sounds.
If, per say, you tell me how to make something like it, that would work.

I downloaded the installer, but when i clicked it, the icon in the downloads folder just dissapeared.
I downloaded another copy, but again, when i clicked it, it vanished. no window or anything.
So i got kinda nervous, ran a virus check.
And guess what?
